Valencia Basket U18 A men's team got close to the finals of the Next Generation Euroleague after falling in a close final of the Munich tournament. The team coached by Gonzalo Muinelo completed an excellent way to the final, where they fought and came close to the victory against NGT Munich (88-100). This is the second best classification of the taronja squad in the tournament, as the ticket to the final got once, in the edition held in 2018 in L'Alqueria under the orders of Xavi Albert. Tomas Talcis was included in the all team of the tournament. Despite not getting the ticket this time, the team's result reflects the enormous training work carried out in L'Alqueria del Basket.

 

The U18 A men’s team opened the tournament with a big win against Aris Midea Thessaloniki forged in a second half in which they gave no option to the Greek team (84-57). The most outstanding players were Javier Viguer with 19 points and 23 in efficiency and Tomas Talcis with 16 points and 26 in efficiency. In the second game Valencia Basket got a new victory that turned out to be epic thanks to Talcis' winning basket with 2 seconds left in the game against Cedevita Olimpija (80-81). Although Muinelo's team led in the first half, but the Slovenian team evened forces, until finally the pulse fell on the taronja side. On this occasion the best player was Nicolás Gómez with 20 points and 27 valuation and he was followed by Pau Torrens with 19 points. In the third and last game Valencia Basket offered a scoring exhibition during the 40 minutes and did a great defensive job to leave Bayern Munich in 10 points in the last quarter and, in this way, secure the pass to the final (102-83). The top scorers were Gómez and Torrens with 17 points and the most valued was Dídac Cebolla with 23 credits.

 

In the final, the Taronja team faced the NGT Munich team, which had defeated no less than Real Madrid. In the first quarter the home team took a 16-point lead, which Valencia Basket was able to overcome to get ahead in the second quarter, although NGT Munich finally went with a slight advantage of 5 points. Equality prevailed after the locker room with continuous alternations in the scoreboard, until the local team, taking advantage of the lack of success taronja, was with 7 points ahead. Valencia Basket had difficulties to cut that difference and NGT Munich extended it to 12 points at the halfway point of the last quarter. Muinelo's team was able to reduce it to 6 points, but the effort could not be translated into a comeback and victory.
