U18 teams start their way in the Spanish Championship

Valencia Basket's U18 A male and female teams are heading to Huelva to play the Spanish Club Championship, after finishing Regional Champions. An annual event that repeats scenario, from April 27th to May 3rd. All the games can be watched live on canalfeb.tv.

 

Just two weeks ago, the women's A team coached by José Parra won the Final Phase, giving them direct access to the Spanish Championship, beating CB San Blas Alicante, U18 B Academy taronja and Picken Claret. The U18 A male coached by Gonzalo Muinelo, in its Final Phase also became champion in its Final Phase beating Lucentum Alicante, CBI Eche and In Side Logistics Godella.

 

Now in the Spanish Championship, the female U18 A has been in group B with Toyota Adareva Tenerife (2nd Canary Islands), Celta Femxa Zorka (1st Galicia) and Zentro Basket Madrid (3rd Madrid). On the other hand, the U18 men will share group B with Real Madrid (1st Madrid), Unicaja Andalucía (2nd Andalucía) and La Salle Palma Marena Beach A (1st Balearic Islands).

 

The competition system will be the same as in the last editions, with 32 teams divided into 8 groups of four teams. The first three teams in Groups A, B, C and D will advance to the round of 16; and the leaders of Groups E, F, G and H. Three days of regular league and another four days of direct elimination (round of 16, quarterfinals, semis and final).

Precedents

In the last edition, the U18 A female team won the silver medal in the Spanish Championship, achieving its best historical classification. Last year, the U18 A male team finished in 8th position. The best historical classification of the team is two silver medals, one in the 96-97 season and another one in the 08-09 season.
