Valencia Basket players Guillem Tazo, Roger Villarejo, and Javier Viguer came close to winning bronze at the U18 Men’s EuroBasket but ultimately finished in fourth place after a loss to France in the third-place game (69-74). The Spanish team fought until the very end, rallying from an early deficit in which the French pulled ahead, but their effort fell just short of a medal, and they ultimately secured a commendable fourth-place finish.

 

Spain completed a perfect group stage with victories over Estonia (61-87), Italy (68-61), and Latvia (92-87). In the round of 16, they faced Bulgaria, whom they soundly defeated 99-66. In the quarterfinals, they faced a tough Greek team in a game where the national team staged a remarkable comeback with an 18-43 run in the second half and an outstanding performance by Viguer in that final stretch—including two three-pointers and a +28 rating on the court—to secure a 66-69 victory. Spain once again reached the semifinals, where they were unable to get past Slovenia (90-71). In the bronze medal game against France, a 16-27 deficit in the first quarter proved to be a burden for the Spanish team; despite rallying in the following 30 minutes, their effort was not enough to turn the game around (69-74).
