Valencia Basket players Paula Reynal, Amelia Alonso, Uki Owie, and Anastasia Lishchuk have been crowned European U16 Women’s champions. The Spanish national team shone at every stage of this Eurobasket, clinching a well-deserved gold medal against Slovenia (40-87). Alonso was named MVP of the U16 Women’s EuroBasket and was also selected for the All-Tournament Team alongside Reynal. Alonso averaged 15 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1 assist, 3.3 steals, and a player rating of 16.3. Reynal averaged nearly 14 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.3 steals, 1 block, and a 19 efficiency rating per game.

These four gold medals join the two golds won by Gabriela Lerma and Sarai Teijeira at the U18 Women’s EuroBasket, the four silver medals won by Isa Hernández, Amelia Alonso, Sandra Dávila, and Sarai Teijeira at the U17 Women’s World Cup, and the four bronze medals won by Carlos Elordi and Sergio Palau at the U16 Men’s EuroBasket, Alex Blanco at the U20 Men’s EuroBasket, and Rubén Burgos at the U20 Women’s EuroBasket.

The Spanish national team got off to a strong start in the group stage with a 109-40 victory over the Czech Republic, with all four Valencia Basket players scoring in double digits and Alonso recording a double-double in points and rebounds (12-14). The trend continued against Hungary with a resounding 13-128 victory. Once again, all four Valencia Basket players scored in double digits. Spain finished the group stage in first place, once again surpassing 100 points against Poland (111–37), with Alonso scoring 19 points. In the round of 16, the national team continued its unstoppable run by defeating Lithuania (118–27), and in the quarterfinals, it also dominated Serbia (41–88). Reynal delivered a flawless performance, finishing with 15 points—without missing a single shot—9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and a player rating of 30. In the semifinals, Spain put on another show against Latvia (91-53), with Reynal and Alonso standing out with 15 and 16 points, respectively.

The Spanish team’s dominance also prevailed in the final against Slovenia, outscoring their opponent in all four quarters and capping off a flawless EuroBasket campaign (40-87). Reynal and Alonso stood out once again, with the former recording 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, and the latter contributing 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Hanna Kenig’s Poland kicked off the EuroBasket with wins over Bulgaria (80-52) and the Czech Republic (61-72), with the Valencia player scoring 23 points in the latter game. The loss to Spain (111-37) left the Polish team in second place in its group. In the round of 16, they faced Germany but were unable to overcome them (46-64). In the classification game for 9th–16th place, Poland defeated Italy (47–63), with Kenig contributing 17 points and 10 rebounds. This victory allowed them to aim for a higher position with one more match against Croatia to climb the standings, which the Polish team won 82–61. In the final match for 9th place against the Czech Republic, Poland won a hard-fought battle with a close 63-62 finish. It was a great tournament for Hannah Kenig, who averaged more than 10 points and nearly 5 rebounds per game.
