14 medals for L’Alqueria in a dream summer with the Spanish national team
  • 28 / 08 / 2026

L’Alqueria del Basket has capped off a dream summer with its players representing the Spanish national team in official competitions. A total of 14 medals were won between the EuroBasket and the World Championship, including six gold, four silver, and four bronze. This reflects the great work being done at the grassroots level at Valencia Basket, taking the L’Alqueria name to the very top. In addition, some of these medals were accompanied by individual accolades.

The summer kicked off with the U20 Women’s EuroBasket, coached by Rubén Burgos, who led his team to a bronze medal and set the stage for what was to come. The Valencia Basket coach was followed by Alex Blanco at the U20 Men’s EuroBasket, who also secured a bronze medal.

Next came the U17 Women’s World Championship with Isabel Hernández, Amelia Alonso, Sandra Dávila, and Sarai Teijeira. Spain put together a great tournament with a third of the players from Valencia Basket and played an outstanding final against the United States, though the victory slipped away in the final minute. Four silver medals bearing the L’Alqueria stamp, and Hernández was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

The next reasons to celebrate came from Gabriela Lerma and Sarai Teijeira at the U18 Women’s EuroBasket, togeter with the former taronja player Marta Llompart. A flawless tournament capped off with a victory over France in the final, crowning Spain European champion and securing the first gold medals of the summer. Teijeira earned her second medal after the one she won at the U17 Women’s World Championship.

Next, it was Carlos Elordi and Sergio Palau’s turn at the U16 Men’s EuroBasket. The road wasn’t easy, nor was the third-place game, but they managed to pull through in a close match against Lithuania to secure a well-deserved bronze medal.

The summer concluded with the U16 Women’s EuroBasket, featuring Paula Reynal, Amelia Alonso, Uki Owie, and Anastasia Lishchuk. Once again, a third of the Spanish national team was made up of “Taronja” players. The latter two are from a younger generation but played key roles. The Spanish national team gave none of its opponents a chance throughout the tournament and was crowned European champion in a well-deserved victory over Slovenia. Amelia Alonso, who won her second medal after taking silver at the U17 Women’s World Championship, was named the tournament’s MVP and included in the All-Tournament Team alongside Paula Reynal.
