Estopà: “It's important to give visibility to women, as Valencia Basket has done with me”

The training days for coaches of the Basketball Chair with the Universitat de València and the support of Caixabank continue in L'Alqueria in 2022. The main court hosted the fifth lecture of this season with coach Gloria Estopà. This session -presential and online- was followed, as always, by coaches from the Valencian Community and other parts of Spain and abroad.

 

Estopà has extensive experience in women's basketball training. From 2014 until 2019 she was coach at Femení Sant Adrià, where she directed the U16 team and was assistant coach of the Liga Femenina 2 team with which she participated in two promotion phases. She was assistant coach in Liga Femenina and took over the team. Subsequently she was coach at Barça CBS, with which she finished fifth in Spain with the U16 team. She is currently coaching Valencia Basket in the team linked to Nou Bàsquet Paterna in Liga Femenina Challenge.

 

Valencia Basket continues to take steps to offer the best possible training, not only to its coaches, but to all interested parties. In Estopà's opinion, "it is an opportunity for all of us to continue training, sharing knowledge, ideas and explaining ways of coaching. For me it is special because now I am part of this club and I am grateful that they wanted to count on me and to be able to do it in my house".

 

The coach's presentation was about "Game options between fastbreaks and transition". Through this clinic, the main objective of Estopà was that the coaches present "would have a good time, not boring. Try to make it enjoyable because in the end they are giving me their time. That they participate in what they think they can contribute, that it is a two-way dialogue, that it is not a monologue and that we all learn".

 

It is not usual to find women protagonists in training sessions and on this occasion Estopà had the opportunity: "I think it is important to give visibility to women, not only in sports, but in all facets of life. It is being done, even if it is little by little, and especially Valencia Basket is doing it with me, for example".
