The first day of the Preliminary Phase of the Minicopa Endesa held in L'Alqueria del Basket has ended with the first victories in search of the six places available for the final phase in Granada. The tournament opened at 16:30h with the matches between Cajasiete Canarias and Urbas Fuenlabrada and between Coosur Real Betis and Morabanc Andorra. The Canarian team won comfortably against the team from Madrid (76-40) and likewise the team from Seville against the team from the Principality (98-50). In the 17:00h time slot, the match between Fundación 5+11 Baskonia and Río Breogan was more evenly matched. The Galician team turned the game around and ended up winning (79-84). For its part, Valencia Basket made its debut on the main court by beating UCAM Murcia, although at halftime the advantage was less than 10 points. In the third quarter, Paco Llorens' team started to put some ground in the middle, reaching a 21-point lead. The maximum reached 41 at the end of the game (84-43).

 

The next round of games started at 18:45h. Herbalife Gran Canaria knocked down Fundación Bilbao Basket (97-52) and Joventut Badalona also won its game against Cenor Obradoiro and, moreover, closing the scoreboard (90-40). Both the Canarian and the Catalan team dominated the clashes and closed comfortable victories. Two games concluded this first day at 19:15h. Unicaja Andalucía beat Catalana Occident Manresa (81-51) and Casademont Zaragoza closed the scoreboard against San Pablo Burgos (75-25).
