Cecchi: “I'm playing with two teams and I'm trying to take it easy”

Frida Cecchi is living a year with new challenges. The Valencia Basket U18 player already sees how her effort turns into rewards in the form of opportunities. After having been practically stopped due to the health situation, she was called with the Spanish U17 team for a meeting in L’Alqueria. Later, she completed the preseason with the VBC women's team. Now, she competes both in the U18 taronja team and in the Nou Bàsquet Paterna Women's League 2 team while continuing with her studies.

For Frida, it was a real surprise that she was called to join the women's team in their preseason: "I didn't expect it at all. We hadn't touched the ball for a long time and hadn't trained and that the women's league team called me to train with them and help them was a great joy because after so long it was a very abrupt change to train with a team like that. It's more intense and harder, but it was super good".

Obviously, the player perceived the great leap in terms of quality "because new players arrived with a high level and training with them and being my rivals on the court was quite noticeable". Frida admits that “they gave me a lot of support, they were super nice to me, they helped me as much as possible and I was very comfortable”. That difference in level allowed her to gain much more experience: "I think I have matured in terms of schedules, behavior with team mates, routines of what to do before training and this kind of things."

Like training with the first women's team, Frida also had another reward this summer, the call for the Spanish U17 team: “It was a huge prize because, apart from the fact that I didn't expect it at all, after the issue of the pandemic and being so long without playing, that they gave me the news was a surprise. I took it with great joy and always with my feet on the ground. We left the meeting with very good feelings ”.

Now, she faces a new challenge that will require her to once again bring the culture of endeavour to the maximum: “I'm playing with two teams, with the U18 team from VBC and Nou Bàsquet Paterna. I try to take it easy, because I also have to combine studies and there are many things. I'm super happy with both teams. At Paterna I'm great, all the players treat me super well. In the end they are older than me but I'm super comfortable with them. With my team I also try to help as much as possible ”.

For the forward, the announcement of the collaboration between both teams is very positive: “I think that Valencia has a team in women's league 2, it gives many opportunities and open doors for players. We can form a good team, even if we're few for now, but with time, a lot of effort and training ahead, we can make a very good team and we can compete ”.
