Ocampo: "When you stop training others overtake you"

The training days for coaches of the Basketball Chair with the University of València and the support of Bankia don’t stop in L'Alqueria del Basket. The fifth day took place at the Valencia Basket facilities with Diego Ocampo as the protagonist in a clinic that was only online due to the health situation. It was followed by coaches from many places of Spain -in addition to the Valencian Community- such as Granada, Barcelona, Oviedo or Tenerife and even from Lisbon, Portugal.

 

Diego Ocampo has a wide experience in benches in ACB, both as assistant and head coach. Akasvayu Girona, Cajasol Sevilla, UCAM Murcia, CB Estudiantes, Divina Seguros Joventut, ICL Manresa, Barça B and Casademont Zaragoza are some of the clubs he has coached. His presentation at this training day was based on "Fun Tasks for Learning Defense".

 

Regarding the conference, Ocampo said that "continuous training is vital because there is no point in training if you think you know everything at one point. When you stop, when you stop training, others usually move ahead of you. In all areas of life it is important to have that ambition and that interest in continuing to improve". Regarding his presentation, he explained that "I used the word 'fun' because sometimes what we all like to do when we get the ball is to shoot. It seems that defense is something that requires other skills. I think it is important in training to make it attractive and fun so that the player likes it and sees it as useful".
