The U18 A male team finishes the Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Belgrade in 5th position. A tournament in which Valencia Basket was growing and improving with the passing of the games until winning the match for the 5th place. An outcome similar to the one that took place last season in the same scenario, with the team that was also coached by Guillem Gonzalez.

 

The Taronja started the ANGT on Friday 31 facing one of the hosts, Crvena Zvezda Belgrade. The team competed, but ended up losing 84-71, before the spectacular display of Nikola Topic, who reached 31 points and would end up being the MVP of the tournament. The best Taronja was Sergio De Larrea with 19 points, 8 assists and 27 efficency. That afternoon they played the second day of the group stage against the Next Generation team from Belgrade. Defeat by 80-91 in a game that was tight but finally won by the locals. Once again, the performance of De Larrea, who reached 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 28 efficency, was outstanding. David Barberá also reached 20 points.

 

On the last round, Saturday 1, the first Taronja victory came. A very close game against another host, Partizan Belgrade, which the team managed well in the final minutes to win 60-66. Lucas Marí, with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 16 efficency and Sergio De Larrea, with 12 points, 5 assists and 17 efficency stood out.

 

On Sunday, on the day of the finals, Guillem Gonzalez's team played the game for the 5th place against Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Valencia Basket dominated the game from start to finish, winning 78-59. In this victory Lucas Marí, with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 steals and 29 efficency and Adrián Salvador, with 19 points and 24 efficency stood out.


Thus ends, with good feelings, the fifth participation of the Taronja in the tournament, second outside Valencia. It will also be the last participation of most of the players of this generation, who next year will become seniors. The icing on the cake is Sergio de Larrea, whose outstanding regularity in the ANGT earned him to be included in the ideal quintet, thanks to his average of 13.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6 assists and 20 valuation.
