The Shooting Academy that is being taught at L'Alqueria del Basket has brought to Valencia Kevin Sutton, a coach with extensive experience in basketball training, from July 15 to 19. The American is an assistant at the University of Rhode Island and has trained in lower categories of the United States. Today he is in the facilities of Valencia Basket helping dozens of kids to perfect their individual shooting technique.    

"The objectives are to learn the basics of shooting. Starting from the feet and working the whole body until the launch. It is important that the kids get out of here with some corrections so they can do it by themselves and become better shooters, "explained Sutton about the purpose of this Shooting Camp.

Young people who leave after five days of intensive work seek to improve their personal skills, specific to a shooter. "How hard do you want to work, how much time are you going to dedicate to it ... You have to be very 'selfish' in your improvement," Sutton assured.

The key lies in the young people's desire to continue improving during their holiday period: "If a player is not willing to work hard, then he should not come to a place like this to improve. But if you really want to dedicate time you should look for facilities like these and a teaching like the one done here".

Sutton especially emphasizes that the best coaches are not those who are in the best leagues, but those who have the mission to train the little ones. "Everyone sees the NBA and the Euroleague and the players are fantastic, but at some point they were young players who had to develop their skills. If you have very good coaches who can teach them to develop those skills at an early age so that they grow and get older and improve the repertoire of their game, in the end you end up seeing the players in the NBA or the Euroleague.
